Hi, I'm Gary.

I'm a migrant myself. India, then New Zealand, and now an Australian citizen. I've also sat on the other side of this decision within my own family, so I understand it from both sides of the desk.

I came to migration law from digital forensics, a field where a case lives or dies on the quality of its evidence. Parent Visas are no different. I've been a Registered Migration Agent since 2016 and have managed several hundred matters across skilled, employer-sponsored, partner and citizenship work, as well as the difficult end of the spectrum: refusals, tribunal reviews and ministerial intervention.

That background shapes how I approach a Parent Visa. These applications turn on documents and on getting the strategy right before anything is lodged. One family I worked with needed both: permanent residence for the parents of an Australian citizen, and a lawful arrangement that allowed a 90-year-old grandmother to remain here with them.

This webinar is the conversation I'd want every family to have before they spend a cent. It won't replace advice about your own situation, but you'll leave knowing which pathways are genuinely open to you, and which questions matter most.

What we'll cover

About 45 minutes of plain-English explanation, then 15 minutes for your questions.

  • The main Parent Visa pathways and how they relate
  • Contributory vs non-contributory: what the price difference buys
  • Why the cheapest visa isn't always the right strategy
  • How a parent's age changes the options available
  • Onshore vs offshore, and what changes with location
  • The Balance of Family test, explained plainly
  • Expected waiting periods and how the queue works
  • Visa application charges and when they're paid
  • The Assurance of Support, and who has to provide it
  • Health and character requirements
  • Why delaying a decision can narrow future options
  • What online lodgement does and doesn't change

Is this for you?

It's designed for families at the start of the decision, not the end of it.

It's a good fit if you are

  • An Australian citizen or permanent resident thinking about bringing a parent here
  • Comparing options and unsure where to start
  • Unsure whether contributory or non-contributory makes sense
  • Supporting parents who already visit or stay for long periods
  • Wanting clarity before spending significant money

It may not suit you if you

  • Need an immediate visa outcome
  • Want personalised advice on a complex case in a group setting

For advice about your own family, a private consultation is the better step.
